We often say that “familiarity breeds contempt” because when we get close to someone it can lead to a loss of respect for them.
It’s true, those who are familiar to us, don’t appreciate the value we bring and vice versa.
Familiarity breeds more than contempt and it’s what I share in today’s motivational video.
I also share how to avoid familiarity with others and with ourselves because it can be a recipe for disaster.

True words, but how do we retain those we love without familiarity in some form.
Hi Dr. Allison, It’s not that we avoid closeness — we avoid complacency. Familiarity becomes dangerous when it blinds us to the value in others and in ourselves. We can still love deeply and stay connected, but with fresh eyes, constant appreciation, and intentional awareness. The goal isn’t to lose familiarity, but to never let it turn into indifference, jealousy, or neglect. Stay close — but stay awake.🌟
