How A Death Metal Guitarist Made $120,000 in 90 Minutes – And How It’s Reinventing Businesses Everywhere (including yours).

Steven and Corinna Essa

Let me ask you a question.

How does a death metal guitarist go from touring America with his band, only just scraping by, to making $120,000 in 90 minutes?

Answer — He masters the art of running webinars in his business (and we have a step-by-step on how you can too). Stick with me on this one…this is one truly incredible story…

A webinar is simply an online meeting over a web conferencing platform.

You may have seen them and thought they weren’t relevant to your business. You were wrong.

But what if I told you webinars were one of the fastest growing new technologies being adopted by businesses and sales professionals today?

And what if I told you that aside from all the amazing benefits of being able to run meetings with clients, suppliers and team members…

Webinars are also becoming an important marketing tool almost every business can use to generate leads, trigger sales and grow your bottom line – from anywhere in the world.

That’s a big statement, sure.

And when you read Steven Essa’s story about how he has used webinars to build his business and the businesses of his clients, all in different industries and markets and with amazing results, you may think twice.

Steven Essa

Don’t laugh at this picture. Believe it or not it’s Steven Essa (he’ll hate me for this!!)

Steven spent 13 years in the music business trying to land a recording deal with his death metal band before he discovered webinars.

In fact he and his fellow band members moved over to the US for a few years and lived in L.A. living off $10 a week eating food from the $0.99 shop – no joke.

His band failed to land the recording contract they were chasing so he returned back to Australia in 2008 to look after his gravely ill father.

That’s when he decided to focus his energy on becoming financially free so he didn’t have to worry about money anymore and could spend as much time as he liked playing his guitar.

He landed a job with a real estate company who, according to Steven, “sucked at Internet marketing”, and talked his bosses into letting him try some online marketing to grow the business.

Steven attended a marketing seminar and came back empowered with ideas and within four months, made his employer around $106,000.

Six months later Steven quit his job and started his own online business thinking his success in marketing with his employer would translate to success in his own online business.

He was wrong. He tried a number of different Internet business models but his first ten websites all failed to make him any money.

Then he stumbled onto webinars.

Steve fell in love with webinars straight away because it meant he didn’t need to create a website, hire a copywriter or fork out for a programmer to sell to someone.

His first attempt at a webinar made him $594 in sales.

When his wife Corinna, a social media expert in her own right, started helping Steven run and market his webinars, their sales grew swiftly.

At first their webinars were making $4,000… then $10,000… then $25,000, then eventually pulled in around $90,000 in sales in 90 minutes.

Their company recently broke that record again by making $120,000 from another webinar.

How Webinars Are Reinventing The Way Businesses Sell

But wait, if you think webinars are just to sell training products – think again.

Consider Pinpointe, a US based software company offering cloud based email.

Since they began using webinars to attract and nurture leads, their business has really taken off.

Here are their results:

  • On average they run two webinars a week – one on a Tuesday and one on a Wednesday.

  • On average 25 attendees will sign up to their services.

  • Each attendee reportedly stays on for a four month period on average and spends $200 a month.

  • This works out to roughly $10,000 for every webinar they run. (Not a bad result for 60 minutes)

One of the host of webinars now being offered by software firm PinPointe.

Marketing company ‘Unbounce’ recently tracked 8,197 of their clients’ webinars in hundreds of different markets and industries.

They found 77% of businesses used webinars for lead generation.

They also found most businesses ran more than one webinar a month with 50% running 4 or more each month.

Still don’t think webinars are right for you or your business?

Then think about this.

Steven have seen lawyers, fitness experts, real estate agents all utilize webinars.

He have helped several of his clients reinvent their businesses using webinars including a Vet who generated over $300K in 12 months and an airline pilot who made £450,000 from just 2 automated webinars.

In fact when he teach at events he often pull someone out of the crowd and help them create and run their own webinar to demonstrate how profitable they can be.

He have helped students create webinars in a range of different areas from Feng Shui to accounting and consulting.

The most anyone has made during these demonstrations has been $22,000 in sales.

The least was $2,200.

The average has been around $8,000 to $10,000.

I challenge anyone to find a more profitable and productive use of 60-90 minutes of your time!

Even better, Steven are now able to use automation software to run his webinars – without them!

That’s right, they can record a webinar, upload it to an automation platform and then set it up so it plays back on demand as if it is running live.

This success has with webinars has even seen Steve being interviewed by Sky News.

So what’s their secret formula for putting together a successful webinar?

# 1 – Register A GoToWebinar Account

GoToWebinar is a massive webinar platform owned by Citrix.

For just $99 a month, you can run as many webinars as you like and host up to 1,000 people one each webinar.

That has been Steven’s preferred platform because you can basically fill up your event with hundreds of leads at once. There’s also no setup fee or lock-in period.

He have also experimented with Google Hangouts, a free service from Google. The only problem is this service is limited to just 10 people on a webinar at a time.

That’s why they recommend GoToWebinar.

# 2 – Create A PowerPoint Presentation

Webinar

A sample PowerPoint that Steven used for a JV training webinar.

Once you have a GoToWebinar account, the next step is to create a PowerPoint presentation.

By the way, Steve have tested running webinars where only his PowerPoint plays versus when his face plays to the audience like a video call on Skype or Facebook. He have found PowerPoint converts much better.

This is what he teach his students:

Length – As a general rule, if you are selling anything over $1,000 then your presentation should go for 90 minutes. Under $1,000 then 60 minutes and under works best.

Introduction – For a 60 minute webinar, your introduction should go for 10 minutes. For 90 minute webinars its 15 minutes.

Have the big promise you are going to deliver on your first slide and jump straight into your webinar by introducing yourself and announcing your big promise at the beginning of your webinar. For example, ‘Hi, everyone, welcome to the webinar. My name is Steven Essa and today on the webinar you’re going to discover how to get more listings as a real estate agent on Facebook in five east steps.’

Then explain who your webinar is for so your audience identifies with your subject as quickly as possible. You basically want your audience sitting there, saying ‘Wow, that’s me!’ For example, ‘If you are a real estate agent in Australia right now you’ll love today’s webinar because most real agents haven’t worked out how to market themselves properly on Facebook yet.’

Then show proof of your big promise. For example, you could show some testimonials and examples of how other real estate agents who have got amazing results from Facebook using the information you are about to discuss. If you don’t have any testimonials or client stories, then include statistics and research as proof.

Content – All webinars should be built around educating people with real content to make it valuable enough to attract leads and get them to register. No-one signs up to hear a sales presentation!

When you provide great content you also position yourself as an expert which in turn helps you bond and build trust with your audience.

For a 60 minute webinar, make your content 40 minutes long. For a 90 minute video include 60 minutes of content.

You want to break your content into steps. Steven always teaches his students three, five or seven steps. Make it simple – people can’t remember more than seven steps.

Then explain how to do each step and give amazing content in each step.

Should you hold anything back? Absolutely not! Give as much information and education as you can. Deliver great value and great content.

Also try to tell a story to illustrate each step and give a demonstration.

Close – The close is when you offer your product or service to your attendees. For a 90 minute webinar plan for a 15 minute close. For a 60 minute webinar spend 10 minutes on your close.

If you’ve done your job in the content section they’re now thinking ‘Wow, I’ve got to start doing this.’ They’re in an emotional state of mind.

The biggest mistake Steven sees people making is jumping straight into a pitch without a proper transition. This only throws people off and disconnects them from their emotional state of mind.

What he teach his students to do instead is to transition into your close by recapping the steps you have just taught in the content section then asking, “Is it okay if I show you the fast and easy way to make all of this happen for you even faster than what you can do here today?”

You then quickly explain your product, list all the bonuses and premiums that come with your offer and justify the price.

That’s it.

# 3 – Promote Your Webinar

Aside from promoting your webinar to your own in-house list of customers or leads, the two best ways to promote your webinar is joint ventures and Facebook.

Joint Ventures – With joint ventures, you can offer a percentage of your profits, normally 50%, to another company who services the same customers you are chasing. Alternatively you can pay them a referral fee for each sale. Either works.

By the way, if you are looking at ways to better monetize your list then you can also reach out to other companies and promote their products for a cut of their commissions. Or even create a webinar to promote an affiliate product.

The possibilities are endless.

By the way, JVs aren’t just being used by infomarketers. Big corporates around the world are already doing it right now to promote their webinars.

Social Media – Another strategy is to promote your webinar on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.

Corinna’s expert knowledge on social media has allowed them to develop a social media marketing system like no other.

The secret is to get your targeting right and testing your topic until you find the right one.

For example, one of Steve’s recent Facebook campaigns cost $330 to promote and resulted in $10,000 worth of sales.

The Bottom Line On Webinars

Everyone from big corporates to savvy start-ups are using webinars to attract and nurture leads and basically sell a heck of a lot more products and services – and in countless markets and industries.

It could very well be the most profitable and productive time you spend selling your business.

The opportunity is HUGE.

Steven Essa will be educating people on how to use webinars in your business for lead generation and sales at the National Business Forum. You can learn more here.

BTW – Steven recently shared some of his webinar strategies with book author Mark Anastasi.

Incredible to believe but Mark made $200,000 with his first webinar using their system. In fact that webinar was still bringing in $7,000 to $8,000 in recurring commissions months after it finished.

Can you imagine a more profitable way to spend 60-90 minutes of your time?

Are these results typical?

Not really, Mark already had a big email list of customers and leads to promote his webinar too as well as other joint venture partners he could lean on.

But what I can tell you is their best clients really do achieve remarkable results.

He put all his knowledge into an easy to follow system that he will be sharing at the National Business Forum.

I don’t know why you are here.

…But if you are a salesman sick of sales calls and cold calling.

…If you are in a job you hate and looking for an opportunity to make some potentially big cash.

…Of if you are in a business looking for a way to reinvent your marketing and bring in waves of new leads and sales

Then webinars might be just for you.
